Trouble
shooting Android screen
If your
screen does not start up each time within a few seconds
New screens are made to start up in 1 - 2 seconds
The screens needs only 3 points of contact
Yellow - Constant
Red - Accessories
Black - Earth
Method for testing
Make sure your earth is connected and it is not getting earth from the antenna
(rare but it does happen)
Check that you have 12V on the Yellow (constant)
Lastly check to see if you have 12V on the red.
If you have all three and the unit is not starting up properly each time there
is a great chance the fault is in the car not being able to supply a constant
12V when the engine is being cranked over.
The way to test this is quite simple
With the engine running:
Cut the red wire and then rejoin, leave on for say 20 seconds and repeat.
If by doing this you cannot make it fault then the issue is within the car not
having enough power to keep the unit in standby when the engine is being
cranked.
This can be further tested by leaving jumper cables from another car connected.
The best solution seems to be to run a heavy core wire from the Yellow going to
the screen directly to the positive of the battery (or replace the battery)
If you do not wish to cut the wire then please ask for bare wire and you can test
this directly off the car battery.
If your
screen does not turn off when the car is off
There have
been occasions where the screen does not turn off when the key is removed.
The screens needs only 3 points of contact
Yellow - Constant
Red - Accessories
Black - Earth
To check the issue cut the red wire as this what should turn the unit off
If it does turn off then connect the red wire to an accessory source such as the
cigarette lighter or extend to fuse box.
If it does not test the each of the wires as none should have power. It could be
the amp has not turned off (the orange) or there is power on Blue Ant wire.
If it does have power on any other wire this needs to be checked out.
Apple Carplay
not working / dropping out
Carplay is available in 2 methods = Wired / Wireless
The S310 and above have wireless Apple carplay. Above the bar code it will read TL855
or TL856
For these units the only USB socket to be used for wireless Carplay is the one with connected to the
RCA on the S310 units
For wired Android Auto any USB can be used.
You must use a genuine cable. Imitation cables notably will work some of
the time and then drop or may continue to work or never at all.
The iPhone must have Siri enabled.
Check the lightning connection on the phone.
Try a different phone
If there is a software issue then a complete restore should be done
Android Auto
If your Android Auto drop out on the Android Operating system stereos this is
most likely an issue with the phone. Invariably as Android is open
platform installed apps on your phone may make it difficult to connect to and
aftermarket Android Unit. Most issues have been reported with Samsung
phones. Also some Samsung will request a manual connection every 72 hrs
and a contact re-sync of contacts. Try re-storing the phone to factory,
update the version etc.
There is a new version of the Carlink for people who experience issues with
Carplay dropping out check your Bluetooth version
If your Bluetooth is BLINK 2161 then please download and install

Poor image when in reverse - Diesel vehicle
In most diesel vehicles the image will be compromised if the camera is earthed.
The quick way to remedy this is to cut earth wire - the camera will get its
earth from the RCA cable. The proper way to do this is to either use a
line filter or a 25V 680ohm capacitor
Restoring the unit
If something goes
wrong or you simply need to restore the unit back to where it was when you
received it then it is a 4 - 5 minute process. Simply watch the video at https://www.dropbox.com/s/g6v81pbp3f110lt/How%20to%20re-set%20the%20firmware.mp4?dl=0
Once reloaded it takes about 3 - 4 minutes
for the unit to re-boot
If restoring changes the language of your unit please check the video at
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBnRVOJ5zw0
To connect the iPhone via wireless Carplay
Connect the phone via Bluetooth
Select Car Link or App Kit
If there is a software issue then a complete restore should be
done

If something major happens to the unit so that firmware inside the unit will not
restore the screen properly the external software is available
You will need to check your Bluetooth version as the wrong one can brick your
stereo.
